Hello Dance Team and Company’s Directors—

Xi Chi Sigma would like to thank you for expressing your interest in competing in this year’s STKs & Stones Dance Competition. The event will be at the University of the Pacific’s campus in Stockton, CA. The event itself will maintain its integrity to ensure that teams from different backgrounds and experiences will be able to compete and judged by the industry’s most respected icons. The STKs & Stones Dance Competition will begin to open doors for new companies and teams and we’re looking forward to working with you as you prepare to participate in this year’s competition.

Registration process upon check in
Every member of the team
must be present upon check in. Any additions to the roster upon check-in table without prior notice will constitute as a $15 fee per person. A replacement body is acceptable given that they will be performing and not as a spectator. As stated in the registration packet, there are no refunds given after October 19th due to any absence of one or more team members.
Performance Specs
1. Stage size will is 24’ deep x 36’ wide
2. The stage will have stairways to the stage on both sides.
3. Props are allowed given they do not block any audience member from seeing any portion of the performance
4. Each team may have no more than 2 non-dancers/managers on the side stage with them at any time.
5. Registered participants must present proof of identification when checking into the competition
6. Absolutely nothing can be deliberately thrown or sprayed into the audience. Equally, nothing can be thrown from the audience to the performers during the routine. If the incident is confirmed, there will be a mandatory five (5) point
deduction. Items do not have to pose a danger to receive the deduction.
7. Any item left after a performance must be cleared
8. Routines will be limited to being between 4 to 6 minutes. We will not cut off your music, however, there will be a half point (.5) deduction for every10 seconds over 6 minutes. Time check begins at the start of your music and ends
once your music or routine stops (whichever comes first).
9. The consumption of alcohol and/or any illegal substances or being under the influence in or near the premises of the venue will NOT be tolerated. Xi Chi Sigma and the University of the Pacific Officials have the right and will disqualify and/or remove any participant(s) partaking in, or reasonably suspect for any such activity.
Music Requirements
1. A copy of the music must be submitted on a CD before the competition begins
2. Music on the CD must be one continuous track--there should not be other tracks on these CD’s.
3. The submitted CD must have the team’s name labeled on it as well as presented in an appropriate case.
4. There will be no censorship of the content but please keep it tasteful.
Judging
1. There will be up to five judges and two people to sum up the total points
2. The highest and lowest scores will be dropped when tallying up the total score for any particular team
3. All judges will be scoring each team using a score sheet provided by Xi Chi Sigma and DECYFR.tv
4. Each team will receive the original score sheets at the end of the competition

Release and Hold Harmless Agreement
In consideration of permission granted by Xi Chi Sigma and University of the Pacific’s Greek Life Office for allowing my company and I to participate in The STKs & Stones Dance Competition and showcase (the “competition”), which will occur Saturday, November 12th 2011, I (together with associated directors and team captains) represent, covenant and agree, on behalf of myself and my dance team/company, and any other person claiming by, under or through me, as follows:
I. I acknowledge that participating in the competition involves certain risks and that injuries, death, property damage or other harm could occur to me or others. I accept and voluntarily incur all risks of any injuries, damages, or harm which arise during or result from my participation in the competition, regardless of whether or not caused in whole or in part by the negligence or other fault of Xi Chi Sigma., the trustees of Xi Chi Sigma., and their affiliates, employees, officers, agents or insurers (“hosts”).
II. I waive all claims against any of the hosts for any injuries, damages, losses or claims, whether known and unknown, which arise during or result from my participation in the competition, regardless of whether or not caused in whole or part by the negligence or other fault of any of the Hosts. I release and forever discharge the hosts from all claims.
III. I agree to indemnify and hold the Hosts harmless from all losses, liabilities, damages, cost or expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorneys’ fees and other litigation costs and expenses) incurred by any of the hosts as a result of any claims or suits that I (or anyone claiming by, under or through me) may bring against any of the hosts to recover any losses, liabilities, costs, damages, or expenses which arise during or result from my participating in the competition, regardless of whether or not caused in whole or part by the negligence or other fault of any of the hosts.
IV. Any rules, outlines previously and presently, which are violated will lead to an individual’s or team’s disqualification, depending on the severity of the violation. The final decision will be left up to the executive board of Xi Chi Sigma. Please make sure all team members are aware of these rules and regulations.
V. I have carefully read and reviewed Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. I understand it fully and I execute it voluntarily.
VI. I understand that the team reserves the right to eject any person(s) deemed unruly or unfit to stay within the competition.
Xi Chi Sigma reserves the right to add new, update, or remove rules and regulations previously mentioned that seems necessary and appropriate with regards to the venue and the competition. With any changes, I will be notified immediately with all changes that are made.
